Human embryos 'at risk of losing legal protection' in research (13.1.2011)
The law, which followed recommendations from the 1984 report by Lady Warnock, carefully shelters human embryos from routine experimentation, with research allowed only in carefully vetted circumstances. The Warnock report concluded that "the embryo of the human species ought to have a special status and that no one should undertake research on human embryos the purposes of which could be achieved by the use of other animals or in some other way".
Will
new legislation curb organ trafficking in Egypt? (13.1.2011)

is one of a handful of countries pinpointed for high levels of organ trafficking.
According to the World Health Organization, other countries include Columbia,
the Philippines, China and Pakistan. New legislation in Egypt will attempt
to combat the illegal trafficking by imposing sharp fines and jail sentences
on violators.
