The Library


 

The library of the Hellenic Center for Biomedical Ethics is the largest library on bioethics in Greece. At present, its collection includes approximately 900 books on subjects related to bioethics, such as:

Apart from the books, the library maintains a collection of videotapes on bioethical issues as well as a series of articles published by eminent scientists in relevant scientific journals and newspapers. These have been filed according to their subject and are being continuously updated keeping pace with the most recent scientific developments.
The Center is subscribed to eight journals related to bioethics. Back issues for most of these journals are kept in the library.

Moreover, the Hellenic Center for Biomedical Ethics is in constant communication and collaboration with the European Parliament, the European Commission, as well as other national and international bioethics committees. The library archives information from these committees and copies of their relevant publications (resolutions, opinions, declarations etc.).
In addition to books on bioethics, there is also a vast collection of patristic books of the Orthodox Church, such as Migne's Patrology, the Greek Fathers of the Church, etc.
The library is not a lending library, but mainly serves the needs of the members of the Center. Nevertheless, students, professors or specialists can visit the library by appointment and make use of its material.
